Jurgen Klopp eyeing Schalke raid

Leroy Sane and Joel Matip on Klopp’s radar

Liverpool are interested in signing Schalke duo Leroy Sane and Joel Matip, according to reports.

The German manager is set to stamp his mark on Liverpool with the first transfer window of his tenure just a month away, but according to reports, he could wait until the summer to make real changes.

Klopp has been adamant throughout his time at Anfield that he won’t spend big in January because he trusts the current crop of players and he doesn’t want to make too many changes at once.

However, he is expected to be busy in the summer, and that’s when he could start making several changes.

Schalke Raid

According to reports today, Schalke are the team he wants to raid, and he’s after centre-back Matip and midfielder Sane.

Klopp spent a lot of time in the Bundesliga thanks to his Borussia Dortmund days, and he’s liked what he’s seen from the Schalke duo, enough to make formal moves for them at the end of the season.

Schalke have a £10million asking-price for Matip, a fee that Newcastle United refused to pay over the summer, while Sane is expected to cost a bit more due to his age and expected development.

The Reds wanted to sign Sane over the summer, but they failed in their approach, but Klopp is ready to renew the club’s interest and could launch a formal bid in the summer.
