Manager will only believe striker wants out if he tells him himself

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has said he will only believe the reports about Daniel Sturridge wanting to quit the club if it comes from the strikers mouth himself.

Speculation has been high the past week regarding the striker’s future, with some reports claiming he wants to quit Anfield after growing fed up of Klopp‘s constant criticism.

Sturridge has once again had an injury-plagued season, and unlike previous managers, Klopp has called him up on his fitness levels and has questioned him publicly.

This hasn’t gone down well with Sturridge, according to reports, and it was revealed earlier in the week that the striker was considering a fresh start in his career, and that would mean leaving Liverpool.

However, when asked about Sturridge’s future, Klopp dismissed the speculation and has insisted he will only believe it if the striker tells him himself.

“I didn’t ask him if he wanted to leave. Why should I? It is not a situation to ask him that,” said Klopp.
