Jurgen Klopp has insisted Fabinho has all the qualities to thrive in the Premier League.
Despite moving to Liverpool from Monaco in the summer the Brazilian midfielder has been limited to a handful of minutes in the Premier League. Georginio Wijnaldum’ excellent display in the deeper midfield role has seemingly blocked his path.
But the midfielder is likely to get the nod against Red Star Belgrade in the Champions League as Klopp doesn’t have many options as both Jordan Henderson and Naby Keita are currently on the sidelines with injuries.
Fabinho’s last start came in the Carabao Cup loss to Chelsea and he will have another chance to stamp his authority in the middle of the pitch.
Klopp said, “You only have to watch a few YouTube videos of him, the summaries – I don’t know which season of Monaco but it’s not too important because he was good in all of them.
“You see all the qualities. Hard challenger, good in one-on-one situations, offensively, defensively quick, good shooter, fantastic set-pieces, good header, all these things. Strategically good in the right moment.
“But, in a different system, and a different way we play, just different, and that’s what then always needs time to adapt, that’s all.”
