Jurgen Klopp has said that Joe Gomez has the potential to take his career to the next level at Anfield.

The young centre-back, who is currently out of action with an injury, signed a new long-term contract at Liverpool earlier today.

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has paid tribute to young defensive ace Joe Gomez and has said that he can take his career to the next level at the Merseyside club. The 21-year-old centre-back, who is versatile in nature and can also play as a right back, has dished out a number of diligent performances under the tutelage of the German gaffer and the club has not failed to recognise his talent as well, rewarding him with a long-term contract.

The player picked up an unfortunate injury in the match against Burnley, which is set to keep him out of action for at least six weeks. However, the new contract comes as a good news for both the club and the player, with manager Jurgen Klopp heaping praise on the player as well.

The Liverpool main man said, “I think Liverpool is the perfect home for him now. We benefit from each other – player and club. We are the perfect environment for him to achieve his full potential and he makes our team and squad stronger.”

He also added, “I’m really looking forward to seeing him take his career to the next level. Of course at the moment he has this injury, but he has already made a big contribution to this season and I have zero doubt when he returns he’ll not skip a beat from the high level he was at.”
