He is the strong favourite for the Anfield hot seat

Jurgen Klopp has told German media outlet Bild that becoming the new Liverpool boss isn’t set in stone, but it isn’t out of the question either.

The former Borussia Dortmund gaffer has been tipped to succeed Brendan Rodgers, who was sacked on Sunday following a 1-1 draw at Everton in the Merseyside derby.

Despite confirmation that there has been contact between the Fenway Sports Group (Liverpool’s majority shareholders) and Klopp’s representatives, the 48-year old isn’t giving anything away just yet.

‘There’s nothing to say’

When speaking to Bild, Klopp said: “There’s nothing to say. Neither a definite yes nor a definite no. I’m going home now.”

However, other reports have suggested that the German has spoke to the Reds’ owner John W. Henry on a consistent basis; and is on the verge of signing a three-year deal at Anfield.

This contract will apparently include the disbanding of the transfer committee that is currently in the place at the club.

Henry and co. have admitted they would like a manager in place before their next Premier League fixture away at Tottenham Hotspur on 17th October.

The club have also got Carlo Ancelotti on standby in case talks break down with Klopp.
