Jurgen Klopp reveals Manchester City and Chelsea snub

Borussia Dortmund manager Jurgen Klopp has revealed that he rejected the approaches from Premier League duo Chelsea and Manchester City this Summer.

The happy-go-lucky coach guided his club to the Champions League final at Wembley last season, but just fell short, losing 2-1 to Bayern Munich, but his tactical knowledge caught the eye of both Chelsea and City, who were both looking for new managers this Summer after Rafael Benitez and Roberto Mancini both left the Premier League.

Eventually the two clubs went for Jose Mourinho and Manuel Pellegrini, but Klopp has revealed that both clubs talked to him about their vacancies.

‘There were some English clubs that called and wanted to speak with me,’ Klopp told The Sun. ‘But there was no reason to talk to because… no chance.

‘It’s only hard to understand if you always think “I can go to a bigger club”. I’m sure you could earn much more money at one or the other English clubs or at a Chinese or Russian club.

‘But it’s not the most important thing. Money is important, of course. I am not Mahatma Ghandi. If somebody told me two years ago “some time they will you call you”, I would have said “impossible”. And then they called and it was nothing.’
