German expected at Melwood sometime tomorrow
Jurgen Klopp is expected to arrive in Merseyside tomorrow after holding initial talks with Liverpool regarding the vacant managerial role.
The Reds have been after Klopp since sacking Brendan Rodgers just hours after their 1-1 draw with Everton in the Merseyside Derby, and according to reports, initial talks have gone well.
Klopp, who has been out of work since leaving Borussia Dortmund in the summer, was expected to take a year out from the game, but when the chance came up in the Premier League, he admitted he’d be interested in managing in the country.
According to reports, Klopp and his representative have already held discussions with chief executive Ian Ayre and Mike Gordon, who is president of owners Fenway Sports Group.
Announcement Before Weekend
It’s believed Klopp will be announced the new Liverpool manager by the weekend as long as everything runs smoothly in the talks.
The German is believed to have told Liverpool officials that he wants full say and control on the club’s transfers, something Rodgers didn’t have.
Klopp will sign a three-year deal worth around ÂŁ3.6m-a-year.
