Liverpool turned down chance to sign forward on a free this summer

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp wants to sign Swansea City forward Andre Ayew, according to reports.

The former-Borussia Dortmund manager tried to sign the Ghanaian twice whilst he was with the Bundesliga outfit, but failed on both occasions with Marseille refusing to sell.

However, the forward finally left the Ligue 1 club this summer after his contract expired and he chose to leave on a free transfer.

Liverpool Turned Down Ayew

Ayew actually offered his services to Liverpool and Brendan Rodgers because he was a Reds fan, but the club turned down his proposal despite him saying he would play for free for the first six months.

With Rodgers rejecting him, Ayew then completed a move to the Liberty Stadium with Garry Monk‘s men and has so far scored four goals in his first eight league appearances.

Swansea officials are now worried that Liverpool may make a formal move in January with Klopp known to be a huge admirer of the 25-year-old.
