Juventus are set to table a bid for Chelsea striker Romelu Lukaku, according to reports in Italy.

The rumour comes a few days following the surprise resignation of Juventus manager Antonio Conte last week, with the Arturo Vidal situation the reason behind his departure.

Massimiliano Allegri has took over the Turin club, and has turned his attention to the out of favour Chelsea man.

Lukaku has spent the last two years on loan with Everton and West Bromwich Albion respectively, and scored 15 goals in 31 games for Everton last season.

It is thought that the Italian Serie A champions would prefer a loan deal for the Belgium international.

During the World Cup finals, Lukaku said: said: “What I don’t want is to be loaned out.

“I am 21 and I have been loaned for the last two seasons. Thibaut Courtois was loaned for three seasons and will be without doubt the first-choice Chelsea goalkeeper.

“And Kevin De Bruyne has been transferred permanently to Wolfsburg. They are free in their heads – it is not my case. That would free me totally.”

Conte’s resignation has also stalled any move for Manchester United fullback Patrice Evra.

Evra had been linked with a move to Turin over the summer, however talks seem to have broken down.
