Roy Keane is all set to become Paul Lambert’s assistant at Aston Villa.

Keane is set for the shock role after talks with Lambert this week, a few days after snubbing the Glasgow Celtic manager’s job, that he was offered.

It is understood according to the Guardian that Keane will continue his role under Martin O’Neil for the Republic of Ireland.

Former Villa backroom staff Ian Culverhouse and Gary Karsa were sacked after an investigation into allegations of bullying.

Keane enjoyed a prolonged playing career with Manchester United, he also played for Nottingham Forest and Glasgow Celtic, as well as captaining his country.
