Veteran midfielder released by mutual consent

West Ham United Football Club have confirmed they’ve released veteran midfielder Kevin Nolan by mutual consent this morning.

The 33-year-old spent four years at Upton Park, following successful careers with Bolton Wanderers and Newcastle United, and after following Sam Allardyce from every club, he found himself in East London with The Hammers.

During his four years at the club, Nolan made 157 appearances and scored 31 goals, and was a vital part in their promotion back to the Premier League.

Nolan was the captain that season and after helping them return to the top-divison, he then finished the club’s top goalscorer in back-to-back seasons, 2012/2013 and 2013/2014.

Statements

On the club’s official website, The Hammers have released this short statement: “West Ham United would like to thank Kevin for his considerable effort and commitment over the past four seasons and wish him all the very best for the future, on and off the football pitch.”

Nolan has also left a statement on the website, and he’s thanked everyone at the club for a memorable four years.

He said: “I’ve thoroughly enjoyed my time at West Ham United and will take some great memories with me. IÂąm now looking forward to the next challenge playing for a new club.”
