Kevin Strootman reveals La Liga desire

AS Roma midfielder, Kevin Strootman, has dealt a major transfer blow to Manchester United and Chelsea by stating his desire to play for either Real Madrid or FC Barcelona.

The Dutchman has been strongly linked with a move to United for the past three years, but this season, their long-term English rivals, have also joined the race for the ÂŁ30m centre-midfielder.

However, both Premier League sides have been dealt a blow by the 24-year-old recently admitting his desire to play in La Liga with one of the Spanish giants.

“I do not see Roma as an intermediate point in my career,” he told Voetbal International.

“Of course, a player who plays well here can showcase themselves sooner.

“Everyone wants to play with Real Madrid or Barcelona, but these big clubs are not scouting in Netherlands.”

Reports emerged earlier this month that United had finally agreed a deal to bring Strootman to Old Trafford, but those claims were later rubbished by the club and the midfielders agent.
