Khedira could now remain with Real Madrid

Sami Khedira could be set to ignore any interest from the English Premier League after new reports suggest that the German midfielder could now stay at the Bernabeu.

The 27 year-old, who has just won this summer’s World Cup, had been linked heavily with a move to Chelsea and Arsenal this summer, however any move now looks doubtful.

Arsenal were thought to be stalling over a bid as they were unwilling to meet the ÂŁ150,000 a week wage demands of the player. Chelsea’s move for Cesc Fabregas also suggests that they may not be in the market for another midfielder.

Khedira has only one year left on his Madrid contract, and with his countryman Toni Kroos joining from Bayern Munich this week in a ÂŁ20 million deal, it seemed as though the former Stuttgart man could be on his way out.

The central midfielder missed the majority of last season at Madrid after a serious knee injury, however he proved his fitness at the World Cup and will now want to stake his claim for a place back in Carlo Ancelotti’s team.

Madrid will hope to finalise Khedira’s future this summer with the risk of losing him on a free transfer next summer if he is not tied down to a new contract or sold by next month.
