Arsenal’s pursuit of Real Madrid midfielder Sami Khedira has been boosted, after the German denied reports of him signing for Schalke.

Khedira will be available on a free transfer at the end of the season, when his contract runs out.

Some reports suggested that the 27 year old is close to agreeing a deal with Schalke, who Real Madrid are in fact playing in the Champions League.

But Khedira has dismissed this information as untrue.

“I have no agreement with any Bundesliga club,” he said. “My future should [not] be decided yet, I have many options open.”

Arsenal have been linked with Khedira in the last two transfer windows, and are keen to bring in a defensive midfield player.

However the World Cup winner is injury prone, something Arsene Wenger will be wary of before moving in for him.
