Carlo Ancelotti has revealed that Sami Khedira wants to extend his contract with the club.

It has been speculated that the German wants to depart the Bernabeu after finding first team opportunities limited. He was linked with a move to Arsenal this summer, but nothing materialised. However, in the last few days it was reported that Bayern Munich had a pre-contract agreement  in place with the 27 year-old to bring him to the Allianz Arena following the expiry of his current deal in the summer.

But, Ancelotti revealed in a press conference that the World Cup winner wants to prolong his stay with Madrid.

The former Chelsea manager said, “Khedira is fine. I have confidence in him and he wants to stay. He told me so. We’ll try to renew his contract and he wants to stay here.”

Despite only making four appearances for the current Champions League holders this season, he may find himself in the starting XI soon following the news that Luka Modric faces three months on the sidelines.
