Schalke have announced that star-striker, Klaas-Jan Huntelaar, has signed a new deal at the club, dealing a blow to Premier League duo, Arsenal and Liverpool.

The 31-year-old, who has been at the club since 2010, was set to enter the final six months of his current contract, but after holding talks with officials, he agreed a three-year deal which will keep him at the club until 2017.

Huntelaar has been long linked with a move away from the Bundesliga, with Arsenal and Liverpool both keen on signing the Dutchman in recent years, but this news will all-but end their interest in the veteran.

Despite signing strikers over the Summer, both Arsene Wenger and Brendan Rodgers were still reportedly interested in signing Huntelaar in January, but any hopes of signing him now are all-but gone.

It was reported that ÂŁ3million bids were being prepared for the January transfer window, but both clubs will now look elsewhere.
