Liverpool dropped 2 points late on at home

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has said he was close to vomiting when his side conceded late on to Bournemouth to drop 2 points at home last night vs the Cherries.

Liverpool were 2-1 up with 5 minutes to go thanks to goals from Philippe Coutinho and Divock Origi, before Joshua King struck late to rescue a point for Eddie Howe’s side.

“Usually you close the game in one moment, we didn’t, we left it open,” said Klopp.

“Then it’s a second ball after a set piece and that made me nearly vomit. That’s of course not nice. We have to take it. It’s my responsibility, all of this, and I have to be clear in this situations. I will find a solution for this.

“When my son does something that is not right, probably I have a big part of the responsibility.

“I should have explained better. It’s a situation that’s not too different.

“I will tell them that they had a part but there’s nothing else to say. I said it earlier in the season: the bad things are my responsibility, the good things are the responsibility of the players. I think that is a fair deal because I have the age to get it.”

Despite the late setback, Klopp tried to look on the bright side on a night when top-four rivals Manchester City were beaten by Chelsea.

“You have to feel the disappointment but tomorrow when we look at the table we will see that it’s one point more,” he told Sky Sports.

“That’s not what we wanted but it’s better than nothing. We tried everything. We didn’t always make the right decision but we scored the second goal.

“We played much better in the second half and used the space of the pitch, we let them run and then got the second goal. That can be enough if you defend second balls after set-pieces but we didn’t, so that’s that.”
