Klopp eyes Madrid winger Cheryshev

Newly appointed Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has labelled Real Madrid winger Denis Cheryshev as one of his main transfer targets this January, according to reports in Spain.

Klopp wants a replacement for England international Raheem Sterling who left for Manchester City in the summer, and he believes Cheryshev is the ‘perfect’ fit for Liverpool.

Fichajes claims the lack of opportunities at the Spanish giants could persuade the rapid attacker to make the switch from the Bernabeu to Anfield, having played just 13 minutes so far this season.

The German’s main ambition this campaign is to bring Liverpool’s attacking threat to life again, with the likes of Roberto Firmino, Christian Benteke and Danny Ings not hitting peak potential in their time in Merseyside so far.

Cheryshev Interest

Cheryshev, 24, would bolster their attack by creating more chances for the Reds, who are currently placed tenth in the Premier League table after an edgy start to the season.

The Russia international impressed bosses around the globe last term while on loan at La Liga side Villarreal, with him scoring four goals and grabbing nine assists.

Former Borussia Dortmund gaffer Klopp, takes charge of the Reds for the first time this weekend, as his side travel to White Hart Lane to face in-form side Tottenham Hotspur.

Liverpool are in for a busy schedule in the coming weeks, as they also take on Rubin Kazan in the Europa League and then Southampton at home in the Premier League.
