The German watched his side surrender a 3-1 lead to suffer a late 4-3 defeat at the hands of the Cherries

Jurgen Klopp admits Bournemouth deserved their late and dramatic win against Liverpool, despite the Reds being 3-1 up with 25 minutes remaining.

Sadio Mane and Divock Origi both scored in the space of two minutes, after the former had given the visitors the lead after 20 minutes.

And an Emre Can strike in the second-half looked to have restored a comfortable lead for Klopp’s men, after Callum Wilson had pulled a goal back for the Cherries from the penalty spot early in the second half.

But goals from Ryan Fraser, Steve Cook and Nathan Ake completed an incredible comeback that stopped Liverpool returning to second in the table and within a point of league leaders Chelsea.

Instead, the Reds remain third, after Arsenal’s convincing 5-1 away win at West Ham on Saturday, with Manchester City in fourth.

However, Klopp is not going to get too worked up about an opportunity missed and insists the manner in which they lost will be fine, so long as they learn from their mistakes.

“First of all I have to say a deserved win for Bournemouth,” said Klopp.

“A big fight from them. We gave the game away at a decisive point. We opened the door and they ran through and scored some wonderful goals. So that’s the deserved result.

“Even when we are in the lead at 2-0 it’s how we try to play football then we were static.

“We gave the game away because we didn’t play football any more.

“If we learn it’s OK. At 2-0 or 3-1 the game is not decided but the way we played after we gave it away. We gave Bournemouth the ball. These things happen.”
