German expert admits manager would love Anfield job

German football expert Raf Honigstein has revealed that Borussia Dortmund manager Jurgen Klopp would find it very hard to turn down the chance to manage Liverpool.

Klopp and Dortmund have already announced that the manager will be leaving the club at the end of the current season after failing to get them a Champions League spot due to a dismal campaign.

Dortmund Struggles

Klopp’s men were at the foot of the table at Christmas but with a New Year came new luck and the Bundesliga side slowly clawed their way up the table.

However, their turn around came too late and they won’t be in the Champions League next year, but they will be in the German cup final after beating Bayern Munich in the Semi-Final on penalties.

As for Klopp, his future is yet to be decided but he has confirmed that he won’t be taking time away and wants to be back in management as soon as possible.

Rodgers Under Pressure

Liverpool‘s current manager Brendan Rodgers is under real pressure after yet another trophy-less season and it’s looking more and more likely that they’ll miss out on top-four.

Rodgers has spent over £200million during his time at Anfield but is yet to win a single trophy and Honigstein believes Klopp would love the opportunity to manage the Merseyside giants.

German Expert Speaks

“Speaking to people close to him in November, where it was already on the cards that he might move to England, it was understood he wanted to move to an established Champions League club,” he told TalkSPORT.

“He’s also realistic enough to know that there aren’t that many likely offers from top four clubs coming in.

“At the same time, in so far as a emotional connection, and an ideal fit, Borussia Dortmund to Liverpool is the closest resemblance you can find. The fans are a huge part of the club, they also sing you’ll never walk alone. There’s a special kind of atmosphere in the city. It would be very hard for Jurgen Klopp to turn Liverpool down.”
