The Spanish international was heavily linked with a switch to the Premier League this summer, with Manchester United, Chelsea and Liverpool all reportedly interested.
The England trio are all expected to reignite their interest in the Atletico man this January but it seems they are now unlikely to see him in their club’s colours.
The 22 year-old explained: “I’m happy because I want to be here, I’ve been here all my life and it was not time to go.”
Koke came throught the youth ranks at the club , winning the Europa League, UEFA Supercup, Copa del Rey, Supercopa and the La Liga title last campaign.
“The club is growing, we are growing as players – why I would go at the best time of Atletico Madrid?” he added.
Koke has been compared to fellow La Liga star Xavi due to his creative ability in midfield but last season’s title winner has shied away from the comparisons.
“Xavi has won everything with Barcelona and here (with Spain).
“He has been top. I have a long way to go, a lot of work. But in the end, Xavi will be Xavi and Koke will be Koke.”
