Liverpool defender Kolo Toure has praised the side’s spirit after seeing them win their opening three games, the only team in the league to do so.
After defeating Stoke City and Aston Villa 1-0 on both occasions, The Reds then beat fierce-rivals 1-0 at Anfield on Sunday to take their points tally to nine already.
Being the only team with a 100% record, Liverpool have started the season positively and their summer signing, Toure, believes that the levels of spirit at the club is the reason behind their fruitful start.
“With team spirit, you can win anything,” he told the club’s official website. “Individuals are very important, but team spirit is the key – it is the most important thing.
“Individuals can win you one game, but to win trophies or be champions it is [down to] a group of players.
“If you want to be successful, you need to work as a team. That is really, really important because we are a group of players and we have the same target – to win trophies and do as well as we can.
“When you don’t play, you need to support the team and your teammates need to feel that you are behind them fully.”
Despite missing the game against United last weekend, the former Manchester City and Arsenal defender, was full of praise for his team-mates.
“The lads played a great game,” he said. “I was off the pitch and really wanted to help them, but I couldn’t.
“Skrtel had a fantastic game and we worked as a team really, really well. That is great for the team spirit of the group.”
