Liverpool defender Kolo Toure is set to reject the chance to join Turkish side Trabzonspor in favour of staying at Anfield.
The Ivorian centre-back was all set to secure a Summer move away in a ÂŁ1.5million deal, but the 33-year-old has rejected the chance to move as he wants to stay and fight for his place at Liverpool.
Toure’s first-team spot has been put under pressure since the arrival of Dejan Lovren from Southampton, and despite a deal in place to take him away from England, Toure has confirmed that his intentions are to stay in the Premier League.
He told Sport Ivoire: “I am still at Liverpool. I had talks with the coach who clearly indicated that I was part of his plans.
“Trabzonspor are interested in me, but I have expressed my pleasure at being a Liverpool player.
“However, the situation can change at any time, but for the moment I am at Liverpool and I want to carry on with the club.”
Toure has made 20 appearances for The Reds since joining on a free transfer from Manchester City.
