Defender hoping he can convince club to give him new contract

Liverpool centre-back Kolo Toure doesn’t want to leave the club in the summer and is hoping he can change Jurgen Klopp’s mind and win a new contract at the club.

The Ivorian’s current deal expires in the summer, and with Joel Matip arriving on a free transfer from Schalke, it is expected that Toure will leave on a free to make way.

That would leave the Reds with four centre-backs in Matip, Dejan Lovren, Mamadou Sakho and Martin Skrtel, but Toure is desperate to convince the club to keep hold of him, and he’s ready to do all it takes to get Klopp to change his mind.

Toure Wants To Stay

“I am a fighter,” said Toure. “I’m in the team at the moment and I am showing every game that I’m still here. It doesn’t matter what other people say, I have this smile, I’m very happy and I always give 100 per cent for this club. This club is amazing. The fans love me.
