Kompany to miss crucial games

Kompany was sent off early on for Man City at the KC Stadium after bringing down Hull striker Nikica Jelavic when he was the last man, preventing an obvious goalscoring opportunity.

The Belgian was annoyed at the decision, seen kicking his way down the tunnel, and it means that Manuel Pellegrini will be without his skipper for crucial games in the Premier League title race.

City host Fulham next week at the Etihad Stadium, but then face a tricky double-header when they travel to neighbours Manchester United on March 25 and then to title rivals Arsenal the following Saturday (March 29).

Kompany’s absence will likely mean that Joleon Lescott will deputise alongside Martin Demichelis in central defence for Man City as they aim to claw back points on league leaders Chelsea.
