The La Liga club have agreed a deal for the Ukraine international

Sevilla have beaten the likes of Tottenham and Liverpool to sign Yevhen Konoplyanka, according to reports.

There was speculation the 25-year-old would opt for a move to the Premier League but Sevilla appear to have landed the Dnipro forward.

Sevilla boss Unai Emery has already seen his top goalscorer last season, Carlos Bacca join AC Milan and so moved quickly to land Konoplyanka.

A statement on their official website read: “Sevilla have reached an agreement with the player, in the absence of a medical and closing a deal with Dnipro.”

Player’s regrets

Konoplyanka was on the verge of joining Liverpool last January only for Dnipro’s owner not to sign the paperwork and admitted his disappointment at not moving when he did.

“I am sorry I didn’t join Liverpool when they wanted me but this Europa League final will help me get over that!” said Konoplyanka.

What next for Brendan Rodgers?

Following the signing of Roberto Firmino from Hoffenheim for a fee believed to be in the region of £29million, the Liverpool manager has been linked with Aston Villa’s Christian Benteke.

The Belgium international, who scored 13 goals in 29 games last season, has recently stated his desire to join the Merseyside club, according to reports.

However, the 24-year-old has a £32.4million clause in his contract which Villa chiefs have demanded is the minimum amount they will accept for Benteke.

The Anfield club are believed to be reluctant to meet Villa’s valuation and are only prepared to offer around £25million.
