Everton defender Kurt Zouma has called on his players to hit back in the next game as he wants to get back to winning ways.

The Toffees dropped points again after Jordan Pickford goalkeeping howler in the Merseyside derby. The Toffees had hoped to put their misery back when they faced Newcastle United but they had to share spoils with the Magpies.

Everton were the better time throughout the match and dominated the proceedings. Despite a number of chances, the home side conceded unexpectedly as Salomon Rondon fired home from a Matt Ritchie cross.

Everton ramped up the intensity and in form forward Richarlison hit back for the Toffees with a swift finish from very close range. The Merseysiders glide up to 6th position but Zouma felt disappointed with the result.

“Everybody is disappointed with the result. Unfortunately we didn’t score the second goal.

“We conceded a goal with the only chance they had in the first half, then they stayed compact, tried to defend and keep the points.

“I think we were a bit unlucky, especially in the first half. We could have scored more goals, but we scored one and came back in the game.

“That is the most important thing, but we need to get back to winning ways as soon as possible.”
