Lyon manager confirms star-striker won’t be leaving this summer

Lyon have confirmed that star-striker Alexandre Lacazette won’t be leaving the club this summer despite the strong interest shown from the Premier League.

The Frenchman has been monitored by Arsenal, Manchester United and Liverpool ahead of potential summer bids, but they’ve all been dealt a transfer blow as Hubert Fournier confirms the striker will stay in France.

Trio of English Interest

The Lyon manager is adamant that his star-man won’t be leaving the club anytime soon, meaning Arsenal and United will have to turn their attentions elsewhere.

It’s believed Brendan Rodgers has cooled his interest in the 24-year-old after signing Christian Benteke from Aston Villa, but Arsene Wenger and Louis Van Gaal both remained keen on the front-man.

Both managers are looking to add one more striker to their squads and Lacazette was a reported target for both of them, but Fournier has advised them to look elsewhere.

Lacazette Won’t Be Moving

When asked where the striker will be playing next season, the Lyon manager replied with: ‘Olympique Lyonnais.

‘I haven’t got much to say. He has said he wants to stay with us.

‘Of course some clubs are going to be attracted to the sort of player he is but he is under contract at Lyon and with all of the different competitions we have this season with the Champions League and the domestic French cups, we obviously want to keep him at the club.’

Lyon are in North London this weekend for the Emirates Cup, alongside Arsenal, Villarreal and Wolfsburg.
