Arsenal and Liverpool put on alert

Lyon striker Alexandre Lacazette could hand in an official transfer request in order to push through a move away from the Ligue 1 side.

The Frenchman has been strongly linked with a move away from Lyon over the summer, but with him under contract with the club until 2018, it was expected that he’d stay put for the time being.

Lacazette at Lyon

The 24-year-old has been at the French club since 2003, when he was part of their youth team, and has been a part of their senior set-up since 2010, when he played for Lyon B.

After spending a year there, he was then put in Lyon’s first-team back in 2010. Over the five years, he’s made 139 Ligue 1 appearances, scoring 51 goals.

European Interest

The French striker has been linked with a move to several European giants, including Liverpool, Arsenal, Paris Saint-Germain and Bayern Munich.

Lacazette has refused to sign a new deal at the Stade de Gerland, with the club desperate for him to extend his three-year contract.

Liverpool Favourites

According to reports, Liverpool are the team in pole position to land Lacazette and have been speaking with his representatives over the past few weeks in order to discuss a potential move.

However, nothing formal has been agreed yet, but according to L’Equipe, the 24-year-old is now ready to hand over a transfer request in order to force through a move.
