Lahm, who captained his side to the European crown last season believes there are no clear cut favourites for the title this year and that there are many teams who can possibly win it.

Lahm believes Barcelona are no longer as likely to win the competition since the departure of Pep Guardiola and he’s hopeful that his side can get a result against Arsenal on Tuesday night. He told Kicker“I hope we can defend it,

“But there are several teams that have the potential to be the overall winner. In recent years, it was always about Barcelona for the title, but now we are the defending champions.” Bayern Munich outclassed the Catalan side last year with a 7-0 aggregate score which sent them through to Wembley to win the trophy. The defender feels that his side are strong contenders for the title, but still sees no team that are clear favourites.

“There is not one team that I can see as favourite for winning the cup. Real Madrid, for example, will challenge us though.”
