Lampard loan extended

Frank Lampard has extended his current loan deal at Manchester City until the end of the season. 

Lampard, aged 36, was due to leave for Manchester City’s American franchise, New York City FC in January, however has opted to stay at the Premier League title-holders until the end of the season. 

The former Chelsea man has become a pivotal part in City’s pursuit of a back to back Premier League crown, and has made 14 appearances, scoring four goals whilst with the Citizens. 

And City have decided to extend the deal, due to Yaya Toure’s absence at the African Cup of Nations with the Ivory Coast in January.

Lampard has previously spent 13 years at Chelsea, where he made 429 apearances for the West London outfit, before being relesed on a free in the summer. 

He is due to be in the squad for the sides Premier League fixture at home to Sunderland on New Year’s Day.
