Chelsea stalwart Frank Lampard has issued a rallying cry to the rest of his team mates that Chelsea are very much capable of winning the Premier League title, under the guidence and stewardship of manager Jose Mourinho.

Lampard put in a superb performance as his Chelsea side ran out 3-0 winners in a televised London derby at Upton park, the veteran midfielder himself scored twice as Chelsea hammered West Ham, in emphatic fashion.

The Blues are now hot on the heels of leaders Arsenal, and after recent negative performances against Newcastle United, and West Bromwich Albion before the international break, the win against a struggling Hammers side was a welcomed tonic.

The Chelsea and England midfielder scored either side of Oscar’s superb solo finish, and stated in an interview after the game.

It was very important for us as a team to get back on track,” Lampard told Sky Sports following the victory.

“We’ve had a couple of results that we knew if we kept losing silly points it was going to put ourselves out of the race.“I think we still need to improve in little areas, but if we can find that consistency, with the quality we’ve got in our squad, we’re determined to make a big challenge.

“It was massive there for us today and I’m very pleased to play a part of it.

“I think we’ve certainly got the capabilities, but the last couple of results have showed us exactly what we don’t want to be. We don’t want to be that inconsistent team that we’ve been in the last two or three years in the league.

“I think we still need to improve in little areas, but if we can find that consistency, with the quality we’ve got in our squad, we’re determined to make a big challenge.

Lampard ended his 10 game drought in emphatic style and went on to say.

“I’ve had little patches in my career where that does happen, but I have to keep my head.

“I’ve been playing deeper and at times I’ve missed a couple of opportunities that I’d expect to score as well.

“It might not be as easy to get 20 goals a season like before, but if I can get important goals for the team now and again, and watch all the players develop in front of me, like Hazard, Oscar and Mata, they’ve got so much ability, that it’s great to be part of the team with those players in it.”

Chelsea move up to third, whilst West Ham United drop to 17th.
