Swansea City manager Michael Laudrup has been installed as one of the early favourites to take over as Tottenham Hotspur manager, however, he has distanced himself from the vacent role at Tottenham Hotspur.
The Danish manager, who has impressed during his short spell at Swansea City, is reportedly on chairman Daniel Levy’s wanted list, as Levy searches for a suitable replacement, to replace former manager Andre Villas Boas, who was sacked on Monday morning.
Villas Boas was sacked after a 5-0 drubbing against in form Liverpool, with many Tottenham fans stating their displeasure at the under pressure manager.
However, Swansea manager Laudrup, who guided Swansea to a League Cup win, and then a progression into the Europa League, is currently second favourite for the post with bookmakers, with some offering odds as low as 4/1.
Former England manager Fabio Capello is the favourite at this stage at 2/1, with former Chelsea manger Guus Hiddink next in line.
Laudrup’s speculation comes as no surprise to many, considering the wonders he did in South Wales last season, and Swansea chairman Huw Jenkins ill be desperate for an ambitious Laudrup to stay at the club.
The former Barcelona midfielder was also approached for the Chelsea job in the summer, before Jose Mourinho took the reigns at Stamford Bridge.
Despite being a favourite on Levy’s wishlist, Laudrup may want to continue the good work he has done at the Liberty Stadium, but if Tottenham come calling, it may be tough to turn down.
In a short statement, Tottenham said: “The club can announce that Tim Sherwood, Chris Ramsey and Les Ferdinand will take charge of the first team whilst the club progresses discussions. Steffen Freund and Tony Parks continue as part of the coaching staff.
