PSG coach Laurent Blanc described his side’s 3-1 victory over Chelsea in the first leg “encouraging” but also insists qualification to the last 4 is far from guaranteed.

Fantastic goals from Ezequiel lavezzi and Javier Pastore and an own goal from David Luiz was the difference at the Parc des Princes as Chelsea were beaten.

However, impressed as he was with his side’s excellent come back to Eden Hazard’s equaliser, Blanc realises nothing is certain going into the second leg at Stamford Bridge.

After his side’s victory, Blanc told reporters: â€śIt is encouraging. But qualification is far from being acquired.

“I felt the team was a little dejected [at 1-1 at half-time] but I told them that they should return with a fighting spirit. That’s what we did.

“The Blues, they did a lot of running [in the first half], so they were struggling. We are really pleased with the second half; that’s where we made the difference.”

Blanc also praised his winger, Lavezzi who opened the scoring before sending in the free-kick which led to the David Luiz own goal.

“He was a powerful and important contributor to our success,” said the ex-france international

“He found a good physique. He is sharp; it has not always been the case. But he is one of those players who add depth and speed. In addition, he scores goals.”
