Centre forward Joseph Minala is 17 according to his club, bur rumours around the internet claim that he is agd 41, in a rather bizarre turn of events in the Italian capital.

Minala was claimed to have told an African Footballing website his true age, something that Lazio deny.

And now it appears that the Rome based side will proceed legal action over anyone who questions his current age.

The Serie A side released a statement regarding the rumours.

“We reserve the right to take action against those responsible for the protection of the good name of the company and the footballer.”

Jospeh Minala also released a public statement via Lazio’s website, in which he denies that he gave quotes regarding his age to the African website Senogo.net.

“I have read the alleged statements posted on the website senego.net in which it says I confessed my real age which was different to what was stated in my [official] documents.

“They are false statements that have been attributed to me by people who do not know.”

Minala joined the club last year, and is yet to make a senior appearance for Lazio, however, he did play in an Italian youth tournement.

The striker has shut down his social media accounts after the un-confirmed rumours.
