The striker’s Anfield nightmare could finally come to an end

According to the Daily Star, Mario Balotelli could be offered a Liverpool escape route by Serie A side Lazio.

Reports from Italian media outlet Tuttomercatoweb also suggest that the 25-year old may well be on his way to the Italian capital. They claim that Lazio will sign the centre forward on a season-long loan with a view to a permanent deal.

Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers has told the Italy international he can leave the club. After joining for ÂŁ16 million from AC Milan, Balotelli is no longer part of the manager’s plans at Anfield and is being forced to train away from the first team with other outcasts Jose Enrique and Fabio Borini.

The Merseyside club are desperate to get rid of the former Manchester City man. Apparently the club’s owners have agreed to buy-out 70 per cent of his ÂŁ85,000-a-week contract as part of the negotiations with any club that are willing to take him off their hands.

‘He is a complete striker’

“I’d take him, he would be fascinating to see once again in our league and in a Lazio shirt,” said ex-Lazio and Italy striker Marco Di Vaio.

He also added: “He is a complete striker who can tilt the scales.”

However, it is believed Balotelli’s move to the Stadio Olimpico will only happen if Lazio qualify for the Champions League group stage. They lead their play-off tie against Bayer Leverkusen 1-0, but they must travel away from home for their second leg.
