Serie A side Lazio have made Liverpool defender Kolo Toure a major transfer target after being hit by a number of injuries.

The 34-year-old has only featured nine times for the Reds this season due to being out of favour at Anfield with manager Jurgen Klopp preferring Dejan Lovren, Martin Skrtel and Mamadou Sakho in the centre of defence.

And Rome based publication Il Messaggero say that Lazio are desperate to sign the Ivory Coast international in the January transfer window.

They go on to claim that the Italian giants want Toure after Stefan de Vrij and Santiago Gentilletti have suffered injuries.

Toure is out of contract in the summer so the Reds could love to sell in January to make a little money for the centre-half, rather than him leave on a free transfer in summer.

Liverpool could be in for a busy transfer window this January, as Klopp is looking to bring in his own style of players after a mixed start to his reign in Merseyside.

The Reds currently sit in 8th place in the Premier League table, six points off a Champions League sport and have now got a month crammed with fixtures.
