Club to reward their players if they win the Premier League

Leicester City are to give new bumper deals to their players, if they manage to secure the Premier League title this season.

It has been a fairytale campaign that only comes around once in a blue moon, with the last success of this nature at the top level of English football happening to fellow midlands side Nottingham Forest, in the 70s.

The likes of Riyad Mahrez, Jamie Vardy and N’Golo Kante are particular stand-out stars of a campaign that will secure the Foxes not only the title, but the chance to face the likes of Barcelona, Real Madrid and Bayern Munich in the Champions League next campaign.

But Leicester are keen to reward most of their squad with new deals, having annihilated the target of securing Premier League safety this campaign, and, instead, finishing top of the pile.

They currently rank 17th in the Premier League pay table, having given Vardy a bumper pay increase two months ago, as he signed a new deal to keep him at the club until 2019.

Meanwhile, PFA Player of the Year Mahrez is set to earn up to ÂŁ4 million-per-year, if he signs a new deal, to keep him from the grasp of Barcelona.

However, one man who may not get a new contract is Kante, who is understood to be targeted by some of Europe’s biggest clubs and worth in the region of ÂŁ40 million.
