Leicester vs Chelsea: Possible Starting Line-Ups, Team News and Match Preview

How could Leicester and Chelsea line-up tonight? Here at sillyseason, we will look at the possible line-ups for tonight’s Barclays Premier League fixture between Leicester City, and Chelsea at the King Power Stadium, in our match preview.

As this is an important clash at the top and bottom of the league, we thought to predict the outcome, and probable squads on Wednesday evening.

Leicester City v Chelsea prediction and line-ups

Following Chelsea’s 0-0 draw away at Arsenal on Sunday afternoon, the West Londoners moved a step closer to a first Premier league crown since the 2009/10 campaign.

Jose Mourinho’s side need just two more wins to wrap up the league title, but will come up against an in-form Leicester City, who have won their last four games.

Chelsea head into proceedings knowing that a win this evening will pretty much seal the Premier league title.

This is set to be an entertaining spectacle in the East-Midlands, with both sides in-form at opposite ends of the top-flight standings.

Chelsea can turn on the style on Wednesday, having been subjected to chants about a ‘boring’ style of play, saying that, will we expect the unexpected from Jose’s Champions-elect side?

The Foxes were somewhat cut adrift at the bottom of the table, however four wins from four games, the last of which was sealed with Jamie Vardy’s close-range winner in a 1-0 victory at Burnley on Saturday.

Nigel Pearson’s men currently sit 17th in the league, having collected 31 points from 33 fixtures.

Leicester probable line-up and team-news

As mentioned above, having defeated West Ham United, West Bromwich Albion, Swansea City and Burnley in their previous four games, Leicester are on an unlikely survival hunt, having looked doomed to an immediate return to the Sky Bet Championship.

Nigel Pearson’s men will be hoping that Argentine veteran midfielder, Esteban Cambiasso can pull the strings in the midfield, and has become a key player in their survival bid.

Team-News

Team news wise, and City will be waiting upon news regarding injuries to David Nugent and Jeff Schlupp, who both missed the triumph at Turf Moor on Saturday.

Leicester’s match-winner in that game, Jamie Vardy, will also be hoping to play, after the former Fleetwood Town man played through an injection away at the Clarets.

Star Men

Defensively, Goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichal and centre-back Robert Huth, who were outstanding in the Burnley victory, will have to put in a similar performance against Chelsea.

Striker Leonardo Ulloa has finally found his shooting boots again, and is the club top scorer, with ten goals, heading into the business end. The Argentine, who signed from Brighton in the summer, could be played up top on his own, should Vardy have to sit out.

Predicted Foxes line-up

  • 1 Schmeichel
  • 11 Albrighton
  • 27 Wasilewski
  • 14 Huth
  • 5 Morgan
  • 3 Konchesky
  • 4 Drinkwater
  • 19 Cambiasso
  • 10 King
  • 9 Vardy
  • 23 Ulloa

Chelsea line-up and team-news

With one hand on the title, it will be interesting how Chelsea approach the game at Leicester, knowing that a draw would be enough to extend their large lead at the top of the Premier league.

Unbeaten in their previous 13 Premier league games, the Blues’ will be hoping to wrap it up sooner rather than later, as the Stamford Bridge side are ten points clear of Manchester City at the top, having collected 78 points from 33 games, with the fixture at Leicester being their game in hand.

Team-News

Chelsea will be hoping the welcome back their top scorer, Diego Costa, who has netted 20 goals in his inaugural season in English football, after the Spanish international has missed four games with a hamstring injury.

Jose Mourinho is planning to make a late decision on the fitness of his star-striker, who has had a season hampered by injury problems.

They are also waiting on the fitness of Oscar, following his collision with Arsenal goalkeeper David Ospina on Sunday, though he is unlikely to face Leicester.

Loic Remy (calf) will definitely miss the game, meaning Didier Drogba may be in-line for a start.

Star Man

Chelsea supporters’ will be hoping that winger Eden Hazard can continue his superb form, when they visit Leicester this evening.

The 24-year-old, who recently collected the PFA Player of the Year award, has netted 19 times in all competitions, in another fruitful season for the Belgium international, who has helped Chelsea on course to a Premier league title.

Having signed from French Ligue 1 side Lille in the summer of 2012, Hazard has become a mainstay in Chelsea’s set-up, despite several rumours of a move away from the capital.

Predicted Chelsea line-up

  • 13 Courtois
  • 2 Ivanovic
  • 24 Cahill
  • 26 Terry
  • 28 Azpilicueta
  • 4 Fabregas
  • 21 Matic
