Everton left-back undergoes ankle surgery

Everton star Leighton Baines is likely to be out of action until November after undergoing ankle surgery.

The 30-year-old picked up a knock in training before the season opener, but after scans revealed severe damage, the England international had to have surgery.

Initial reports state Baines could miss around three months, meaning he won’t feature until November at the earliest, which will come as a huge blow to Everton and Roberto Martinez.

Ankle Problems

Baines missed the last two games of last season due to a problem with the same ankle, and this news has only worsened his condition and means he won’t be in action for at least three months.

A club statement on Thursday revealed that Baines will miss 12-14 weeks after undergoing successful surgery.

It’s likely The Toffees left-back will miss at least 12 games, including the Merseyside derby against Liverpool.
