Leroy Sane, fortunately, escaped a serious injury during Germany’s 1-1 draw against Serbia after a horror tackle from Milan Pavkov.
The Manchester City winger limped off the pitch but at the exact moment seemed to be in a lot of pain.
Pavkov, who was making his senior debut for Serbia lunged out towards the winger’s ankle with his studs pointed directly towards his leg.
Germany head coach, Jogi Loew was not too happy with the tackle. In the post-match interview, he said, “Sane was lucky and got away with not getting hurt, but such fouls can break bones.”
Sane was in good form throughout the fixture before he got brought down with the controversial challenge. He revealed after the game, “Everything is okay with my ankle joint and I’m quite satisfied with my performance.
“We had a few good moments but we have to deliver more. I try to push the team forward. We are looking forward to Sunday.”
Sane is hopeful of returning for the upcoming 2020 Euro Cup qualifier against the Netherlands. The 23-year-old wants to make a mark after being left out of the squad for the 2018 FIFA World Cup.
