Leroy Sane has revealed what was the main reason behind his excellent transformation since his arrival to Manchester City. The German winger has added a new dimension to Pep Guardiola’s attack and played an influential role in City’s title triumph last season.
The 23 year old was a favourite to book a birth in the Germany World Cup squad following his breakthrough season where he netted 10 goals and laid another 15 in the top flight. But Joachim Low decided to leave the player out of his squad leaving everyone speechless.
Despite the disappointment, Sane has worked hard and has gone onto reestablish his authority at the Etihad stadium. The former Schalke wide man said, Obviously it was hard for me but I think at the end I was just like, ‘OK, you have to keep on going.
“I think if you start thinking about it and being mad and trying to find excuses and talk about it, I think it doesn’t help you at all.
“You will just think back: ‘what happened?’ And you’re not focused on what happens the next season. You have to play better to improve, maybe for the next World Cup or to be involved in some other tournaments.
“For me it was just like a big motivation: ‘Yeah, OK, now I have to do more and more and more.'”
