Borussia Dortmund has been shocked today by the news that Robert Lewandowski will sign a pre-contract at Bayern Munich in January, once his contract has less than six-months left to run.
The Polish striker was close to joining Munich this summer, along with team-mate Mario Gotze, but Dortmund denied any possible transfer as they refused to lose two key players to their fierce-rivals.
However, with the striker entering his final year on his contract, the German side knew that there was a high-possibility that they would lose the 25-year-old on a free next year and that is exactly what’s happened.
In an interview, Lewandowski confirmed himself that he will sign a contract with Munich as soon as possible, which will see him join them next summer on a free transfer.
When asked about committing to Munich, the Polish international said: ‘Yes, because then I can officially sign the contract.’
