FC Barcelona midfielder Lionel Messi has dismissed reports suggesting that he is looking for a move away from the club, and has revealed his intentions are to retire at the Nou Camp.
Speculation has been high in recent weeks after it was revealed that the Argentine had a falling out with one of the officials at the Catalan club, after he labelled him as a business-man rather than a football-man.
With a rift reported, it was then reported that mega-rich Paris Saint Germain were plotting a bid of over £200million for the La Liga star, but after returning from injury last night, Messi confirmed himself that he doesn’t ever want to leave Barca.
“I want to retire here. While people want me, I want to spend my whole career at FC Barcelona,” said Messi.
“My excitement to play is always there but it is true that these past two months have been difficult.
“Mentally I’m rested. I’m happy, very excited and very eager to achieve things.
“I’m here to add to the team, to help the team achieve its goals. Very difficult months are ahead but we will fight like we always have at this club.”
