Former manager Jurgen Klopp previously called a Liverpool player exceptional, but Arne Slot, the new coach, has excluded him from first-team practice. Rhys Williams made a name for himself in the 2020–21 season by filling in for an injured Reds team. He appeared 19 times overall, starting the last five games of the campaign in defense with Nat Phillips to help the team finish third.

With his incredible run of play, he received high praise from Klopp, who almost ran out of adjectives to describe the player following an outstanding defensive performance against Atalanta in the Champions League, describing him as incredible.

“Brilliant. I find it unbelievable that at 19 I might be playing in the CL versus Zapata,” claimed Klopp. “My happiness for Rhys is unmatched. You should see him in the changing room because it seems like he needs something more to put a stop to his smile.

23y/o Liverpool ace is now ‘expected’ to leave this summer

Over the past two weeks, a number of senior Liverpool players have been put through their paces at the AXA Training Centre. However, one player stands out as being left out; he wasn’t away on international duty this summer.

Due to Rhys Williams’ noticeable absence from the first team during their preseason training in Kirkby, according to the Liverpool Echo, there have been rumours that Arne Slot does not have him in his plans.

His Liverpool contract is set to expire in two years, so should a potential suitor emerge during the summer transfer window, the club should be able to demand a respectable transfer fee for him.
