Reds will pay ÂŁ14.2million for Brazilian striker

Liverpool have agreed a deal with Corinthians for the striker Alexandre Pato, according to reports.

The Brazilian striker is currently out on-loan from Corinthians at Sao Paulo, but according to reports, he has agreed a pre-contract with the Premier League side ahead of the January window.

Jurgen Klopp is worried about the fitness levels of Daniel Sturridge, and with Danny Ings missing for the remainder of the season, it leaves Klopp with just Divock Origi and Christian Benteke.

Done Deal

According to Italian journalist Alfredo Pedulla, Liverpool and Corinthians have already reached an agreement and it will see the Premier League side pay around ÂŁ14.2m for the striker.

As well as the journalist reporting the deal, according to Corinthians president Robero de Andrade, a pre-agreement has been met between the two clubs.

‘There is an agreement in principle with Liverpool for the transfer in the coming weeks,’ De Andrade explained to Tutto Mercato Web.

‘Pato had long expressed a desire to return to Europe.

‘Liverpool await, there are a few missing details, but Klopp will have a new reinforcement and for Pato the Premier League will be a new springboard.’

Pato was dubbed one of the next big things when at AC Milan, but due to injuries he never really developed into the striker he was expected.

He then returned to his homeland in order to re-find his form, and he now could be on his way to the Premier League.

Manchester United and Arsenal were reportedly interested in signing the forward over the summer.
