Alexandre Lacazette will not be allowed to join Arsenal or Liverpool this month according to Lyon president Jean Michel Aulas. The 23-year old has been in sensational form so far for the Ligue 1 side this season.

It has attracted interest from the Gunners and Reds but the club’s president Aulas has claimed he will not be letting go of the star striker during the transfer window. He said: “We have prepared so that there are no departures and it is certain to be that way.

“The return from injury of Yoann Gourcuff, ClĂ©ment Grenier and GueĂŻda Fofana will be the internal transfer window for Lyon.”

Aulas then went on to claim that Lyon wouldn’t be bringing in anyone new either. He added: “There will be no signings as it would be financially nonsensical, but also mental. The players who are leaving for the African Cup of Nations must find their place in Lyon when they return.”

It’s a blow for Arsenal and Liverpool who were both hoping to land Lacazette this month as both sides look to increase their strikeforce.
