Liverpool ‘ready to battle Barcelona’ for Clement Lenglet.
According to English transfer reports, the 22-year-old has been in impressive form for the La Liga side, and is said to have a release clause worth around £40 million.
Stories suggest that four months ago his release clause was £28m. New reports claim that Liverpool are ready to threaten Barcelona’s move for the player, with claims the Catalans have already opened talks with the Lenglet’s representatives.
Lenglet played for Sevilla against Liverpool in the Champions League, and was touted as a possibility for Anfield the following week.
Lenglet is a highly accomplished centre-back who has gone from strength to strength since joining Sevilla from AS Nancy at the beginning of last year.
But, there might be an issue in partnering him with Van Dijk.
Van Dijk is one of the best left-sided defenders in world football and so Lenglet would unnecessarily be signed as a replacement for Klavan.
