Liverpool and Manchester United dealt transfer blow

Bayern Munich star Xerdan Shaqiri has snubbed the Premier League by revealing he would rather stay and fight for his place at the German champions than move on.

Shaqiri has failed to cement a first team place since his move from FC Basel, making just 17 appearances last season.

The Swiss winger, 22, handed in a transfer request during the summer, putting Liverpool and Manchester United on alert.

His request was firmly rejected by Bayern however and it would seem the player himself has had a change of heart and chosen to stay.

“I’ve still got a contract here until 2016 and the club have already told me I won’t be going anywhere so I have to accept that. For as long as I am here i will give it my all. I try to do my best in training and when the coach rewards me with appearances, like today against Hannover, then that’s even better.”

“I’m always delighted when I can start games, and I show that too, like I did this time.”

“I think everyone could see how hungry I am to play football.”
