Aston Villa’s Fabien Delph has recently refused a new contract deal at Villa Park, and Liverpool and Tottenham are interested.
Given that Villa will get no return for the 25-year-old in the summer months, they may well be ready to listen to offers to at least get something for him. It seems £4million will be enough to attract attention and secure the services of the midfielder who has recently broken into the senior England set-up.
Liverpool are looking for a player, or a system that will compensate for the outgoing Steven Gerrard, and Delph could well fit into Brendan Rodger’s future plans.
Tottenham, in the mean time, are reluctant to meet a £60,000-a-week wage demand, and their interest may diminish in the coming days, so as it stands right now, Liverpool look firm favourites for the signing.
With no disrespect meant to Aston Villa, Delph is yet to win a major honour in the game, and will need to choose which club would be a good step up.
